Financial Futures Center
The Financial Futures Center (FFC) aims to support developing country governments, civil society/development partners, and the investment community with different types of economic and financial climate risk-based analysis and data to support informed decision-making on investment and technological pathways to achieve maximal resilience and high shares of renewable energy.
Specifically, FFC provides overall implementation support to the Climate Vulnerable Forum and V20 Finance Ministers, focused in its Climate Prosperity Plan program.
Climate Vulnerable Forum
The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), founded in 2009, is an independent intergovernmental organization of countries most threatened by climate change, headquartered in Accra, Ghana. It is composed of leaders of 68 governments from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Pacific, who together represent 1.74 billion people.
Position Purpose
Under the Financial Futures Center Internship Program, each Program Assistant (Intern) will support the work and fulfillment of the mission of the Financial Futures Center, as well as one or more of the organization’s main projects. For this assignment, the Program Assistant will support the activities of the CVF and V20 Finance Ministers in particular through administrative and research-related tasks.
Reporting Relationships
The Program Assistant (Intern) reports to the Associate.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Assistant (Intern) will focus on supporting the Associate including in the following areas:
- Provide research support, draft documents and contact relevant institutions and partners as required;
- Research will incorporate desk-based analysis of data as well as analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from consultations, etc.;
- Prepare drafts of documents including concept notes, briefers, event programs, meeting records etc.;
- Provide support in completing CVF/V20 database requests;
- Perform other research, programmatic, organizational, or communications tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Profile
Education/Enrolment Status
Currently enrolled in relevant studies in a bachelor (all credits except internship completed) or master’s level program, holding a bachelor level degree/equivalent and enrolled but pending course commencement in a relevant master’s degree or equivalent (advanced degree), or, in certain cases, have recently completed a relevant advanced degree or holding such a degree and seeking professional re-orientation.
Relevant studies: International Affairs/Relations, International Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Environmental Studies, or related fields.
Experience
Previous work experience or demonstrated interest in economics, finance, climate change and/or environmental protection policy projects. Experience in research and/or working with local and international non-profits is an asset.
Competencies, Skills & Languages
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Proficiency with online finance platforms an advantage;
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to identify clear objectives, prioritize effectively, and use time efficiently;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, as well as individually;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Native proficiency in English is required
