V20 MINISTERIAL DIALOGUE X

16 April 2023

H.E. Michel Boisvert, Minister of Finance, Haiti (Delivered in French; Transcription based on Live Interpretation)

As you know, Haiti is one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world. Disasters annually account for 2% of our GDP. We have been hit by successive crises that have limited our ability to face climate-related vulnerabilities, the impact of which is felt on infrastructure, agricultural productivity, and the economic stability of our country.

While we consider the solutions required for climate change, adaptation requirements surpass the financial capacity of many countries. Facing this existential threat requires tremendous support for resilience.

We also call on international partners such as the IMF and the World Bank to support SIDS, especially the most vulnerable like Haiti in disaster risk management and adapted growth policy to enhance climate resilience with support initiatives to develop Climate Prosperity Plans.

I would like to join other V20 countries to request the full recognition of our group at the IMF and World Bank.

Thank you.
